Do.Not.Buy.This.Car.Ever?

My own personal lemon:

Has anyone here had or have known anyone who has had a Dodge Intrepid with a 2.7L engine? Mine was a 2001.

These cars are NOTORIOUS for being lemons. Not all though- just the 2.7L engine for some reason. The engines usually need replacing after about 60k miles. Mine died a mere 5 months after I bought it.

Just wondering if anyone else has had this bad luck with this car? Do you guys know of any other lemon cars to avoid? Throw in any stories you have of horrible cars!

  • I've owned a bunch of Chrysler cars, and most of them were equal to anything else I have ever owned. The 2.7 is a piece of junk. Just about every auto maker has dark spots and bad cars. Even Japanese and European cars have their bad cars. Yes. The 2.7 is a horrid nightmare of an engine.

  • Yes, most Dodge/Chrysler cars are lemons.

Good cars are Japanese cars or German cars like VW / BMW or American cars like Buick and Ford's made using Mazda parts like the new Ford Focus and Ford Fusion, which are copies of the older Mazda 3 and Mazda 6.

All newer cars are made to last 200,000 miles or 10 years so it really does not matter what newer car you get.

  • the 2.7L had a oiling problem. It was designed poorly that the oil returns clogged up easily.
