How do you sew regular jeans into skinny jeans?

Is there a link you can send me to that tells me very detailed.

& where to get the sewing kit from to do it.

I don't know how to sew though.

  • Unless you are highly proficient at sewing, you are going to be unhappy with the results. Hiring someone to do this will cost more than a new pair of jeans. If you really want these, buy them.

  • I've been doing this for years, my Dad actually taught me how. They used to do it in the early 60's when peg leg jeans were in. Turn the jeans wrong side out and put them on. Have someone pin down the inside seam where you want the new seam to be, take them off (this way ensures that you dont make them TOO skinny LOL). Start at the original crotch seam if it fits correctly there, a little above it if they have extra room there, sew beside your pins down one side, then start at the crotch again and sew down the other side. Since they're jeans, you might want to go over them again just to be sure its a strong seam. After you're done sewing, trim the excess material away, leaving a seam allowance of about 1/4". They probably still arent gonna be just like the ones you want, but thats how you make a pair of jeans skinnier without looking funny. Hand sewing would never make a strong enough seam, and your pants would more than likely bust open the 1st time you wore them, so I wouldnt try that!

  • I have been sewing for 35 years and this won't work. Everything will look funny because you'll be taking fabric away from the outsides, but the inner seams will still be constructed for a different style of jeans. The pockets will be too far over to the outsides, and the fly will pull in funny directions. Better to just make the investment and buy some skinny jeans.

  • It's really simple; I do it all the time.

I just use a sewing machine and and go down the outer seem getting smaller as you go down the leg; you have to make sure you sew down the outer seem otherwise it will rub and be tight around your ermm "area"

You don't have to use a sewing machine though you could just use ordinary cotton and needle.

Here's a link I found which will probably explain it better than I did; http://www.cutoutandkeep.net/projects/skinny_jeans

Hope I could be of some help and good luck

  • that's no longer conceivable to reveal bootcut's into skinny's without getting bunching interior the knees till you're taking the textile all the thanks to the thigh. that's the most problem-free grievance even as people attempt to attempt this. even as they do take interior the textile each and each and every of ways up the leg to stay away from bunching, the thighs finally end up being too tight. that's totally confusing to do. by utilizing the time you purchased it to be the way you needed it, which could probably should be performed at a tailor, you've were given been extra suitable off procuring a pair of thin's. Plus, bootcuts will in no way pass out of desire while skinny's truthfully will. you should desire to entice close on for your bootcuts for the destiny and purchase a more most not pricey pair of thin's for the season.

  • Well if you dont know how to sew..you'd probably mess up...sewing and hemming takes skill. especially with tough material like jeans...try calling tailors and see what their rates are.
