why do designers create moodboards?

  • Because they want to remember the choices they made? - especially to show clients and have physical evidence.

  • It's part brainstorming, part design, part concept. It's a physical way to show what you are thinking. It's less work than starting a project without one, then having the client say you are completely off base. A reference for the designer to stay on track As the project progresses. And especially a way for other people working on the project to get inside the designer's head.
