Do oranges damage paint jobs?

I know that eggs can really damage a car's paint job, but will oranges do the same because of the acid in the citrus? I'm a little nervous because this happened to a friend and I'm wondering what's the worst that it can do in cold weather like right now?

Update:

One last detail, I live in California but the cold nights are enough to freeze and leave ice on your car. Will that make it worse if the juice is frozen on the roof or hood?

  • Yes. Orange peels contain oils that act as natural solvents which dissolve laminated surfaces.
