  • It really helps when a person states what their nationality is.

People are guessing in your case, because you did not say.

  • All you need is your American Passport, or any valid ID such as driver license or another photo ID, if you are a US citizen you can go to Mexico without a passport, the thing is when you want to come back to the US, you must carry your American Passport (if you are american citizen), but according to my experience the border customs can't deny you from enter to your country, you may be send to secondary inspection and be order to answer questions to determine whether you are really you or not, but you also can show a picture ID and your birth certificate as a passport, that will save you time.

Good luck. You can go anywhere to mexico assuming you are american, but the more you travel south the more you expose your life. Close to the border everythings fine.

  • You need an American passport...the book can be used for any kind of travel to any country. The passport card can only be used for LAND or sea travel within North America or the Caribbean region. If you are going to fly to Mexico you need a passport book. On the plane they will give you a tourist permit for Mexico...the cost is about $25 and included in your ticket price. If you are traveling by land, you can use a passport card and you must stop at the border to get your tourist permit.

  • If you are a US citizen you will need a US Passport or US Passport Card.

The passport card is you cheapest option it costs $55. It can only be used for travel between the US and Mexico, Canada, and Caribbean. If you think you may want to travel beyond these countries then you will want a full passport.
