car insurance problem, please help?
i was moving house, towing my trailer loaded with everything i own when i had the accident, the car caught fire burning everything to the ground, total loss. i was fully comprehensive insured but the insurance company tell me they will cover my car, part of my trailer but nothing on my trailer.
i told the company if they will not pay me out for my trailer and contents i want them back to try and salvage anything i can.
after 4 weeks trying to sort out everything, no payout yet, i just learned the insurance company has given permission to the holding yard to crush my car, trailer and contents, which of course they did.
at the moment im to upset to think straight, the insurance company are looking into it to see what they can do to fix there mistake but i dont think they will replace or pay me out for the trailer or contents.
i don't know a lot about insurance or law, this is the first claim i have ever made and would really appreciate any useful advise or information anyone in the know can give me at this stage.

The insurance company will not pay for your contents.
That's because personal property is not covered under an auto policy. You have to have a renters or homeowners policy in place prior to the loss to be covered for the contents.
The insurance company does not give you the contents. You just go by the tow yard with some boxes and let them know you are there to clean the car out. Then you clean the car out. If the tow yard had the car and contents for 4 weeks you have not cleaned the car out...seems to me you've abandoned the contents.
Coverage for trailers is very limited and can vary from one policy to another. They are only covering part of the trailer because that's all that's allowed. For example, some policies will allow up to $500 in coverage for damage to a trailer that is attached to your auto. The auto policy does not cover the full cost of the trailer. Again, you would have to purchase a policy for the trailer in order for it to be insured for it's full value.
In the end, you were not properly insured for the trailer or the contents and you did not go to the tow yard and clean the car out.
