how do i hook up my car audio capacitor?
i just bought a car system. i know just abt everything to hook it up but ive came to some minor problems. the system is 2-kicker solo x 12" woofers. 2 seperate amps, 1 spl 5500d and one spl 3000d. the system also came with a 15 farad cap. now i know the amps arent the best for this system and i should hav a kinetick battery and blah blah. but im broke right now and this is all i got. so can someone pleas just help me with my problem, not tell me to get something else cause thats something i already know. ... i wish i could add pics to better explain the setup. on one side of the cap there a Positive input and output. on the othe side it has negative input and output. i have splitters for the outputs of the pos/neg of the cap. and all 0 gauge wiring. MY QUESTION IS.. is it hook up right... i have the + and - from the battery to + and - input of the cap. then the + and - output of the cap to both amps. now is the - suposed to come from the - of the battery??? or is it suposed to go to ground??? i cant find a manual for my cap, and any i looking online didn have seeperate ports for input and output.maybe a website diagram of some sort would help me the best, idk. but please help me with what you can. thank you, greg.

From batt (+) to cap in (+). Cap out (+) to amp (+).
Cap (-) to chassis ground.
Amp (-) to chassis ground.
These can be the same location.
Here's the basic schematic: http://bcae1.com/images/gifs/capchg05.gif
just make sure you have a fuse or breaker in the power line about a ft of the pos. post.then look at it like this a pos. line should never be involved in a neg connection.you can blow up the cap,so hook the pos from the battery to the pos input on the cap and the pos output should go to your amps, and the neg input should go to a good grounding spot.and the output for grounding should be for the grounding contacts on the amps.this is a big cap so you should have a current breaker in that power line coming off the battery to the cap so you can trip it to work on the system.or it will trip itself when the wrong wires are touched together.good luck,if it powers up there should be some kind of power light on the cap.
Capacitors are a waste of money. they are easily a small battery. meaning they could provide potential yet to boot might want to recharge. If I were you i'd save up the money and rather of shopping for a capacitor i'd flow for an AGM (Abosorbed Glass Mat) battery (ei: odyssey, stinger, xspower, die confusing platinum, optima). the great factor about those dry cellular batteries of moist lead acid ones is they have a way decrease ohms resistance. Which interprets to more advantageous swifter potential delivery even as needed and instantly recharges. It doesn't harm also to do the three large improve. you may in basic terms be helping your autos electric powered device.
You should have saved you money to buy a better battery and alternator. No matter how big the capacitor is, it is never going to create any electricity. They will filter what you have, but not make more. You need more.
