R&P: CONCERT REVIEW!!?
So as some of you may or may not know, I went to see Beck and MGMT last night. Let me first start off by saying it was amazing!!!
Not many people knew who MGMT were but people got really into it. The response from the crowd was awesome. (I was clearly screaming my lungs out, Andrew is my newest love interest). So our plan from the beginning was to find a way to meet the boys.... I don't know if some of you guys know this, but small venues are great to meet bands. Especially the opening bands. I was anticipating MGMT coming out into the crowd during Beck's set...and apparently they did. I, however, was pretty close to the stage and had a lot to drink. I went with 4 friends and we ended up splitting into pairs. Anyways long story short, I totally forgot about meeting MGMT and ended up having a blast the entire show pretty close up (I was in a realllllllly happy mood ).
MGMT and Beck were both spectacular. Beck had a great setlist, I'm glad I finally got to see him live. But ...ughhh...I feel like an idiot that I didn't make a big enough effort to meet them. But I had a great night to make up for it!!!!!
I can't wait till they come back, hopefully I'll be in a better state of mind!!
My friend took great pictures, I'll hopefully be able to post some to show you guys some as soon as she uploads them! Woot woot!
MQ: Last concert you went to?!
Comments
That...sounds flippin' amazing.
And just so you know, I had no idea who MGMT were, but when you said you were just as excited to see -them- as -Beck-, I looked them up.
...Mindblowing. Absolutely unbelievable. Also, I have heard one of their songs before--"Time to Pretend". It must have been in a movie I watched or something. Anyway, thanks for "making" me listen to the band.
MA: I went and saw The Black Keys last Thursday. Yeah. It was pretty much the best night of my life. (Until I'm able to go see Kings of Leon, anyway). But the guy in front of me--drunk OUT OF HIS MIND--was dancing like he belonged at a Michael Bolton concert. It was kind of sad, but he was obviously enjoying himself, and I guess that's all that really matters.
****It was on the trailer for "Sex Drive"!!! That's where I know the song from! Okay...
I like MGMT, wish i was there! Hope you had a good time though...
MQ - Sadly i haven't been to a good concert. The last one i went to was 3 or 4 years ago, when i was 11/12, to see lots of different pop bands. I liked it at the time, but obvs i'm not into that crap anymore.
Sounds awesome!
I love small venues.
The first show I went to was for a local band (they're getting pretty big now), and I got to meet the singer. I took a picture with him, and he was awesome. He took my camera to look at the picture I took with him, and he's like, "Did I blink? I always blink. Let me see if I blinked." It was awesome. I got a signed poster from him. :]
Another show I went to, the band was standing literally a foot away from me when I was waiting in line to get inside. And then the drummer from another band was right in front of me (he had to cut through, so he's like, "Excuse me, I know I'm a jerk.").
Yay for small venues! And local bands!
MQ: The Hush Sound. Don't laugh, I went with a friend. They're actually good. We met some singer from some band (don't remember who, haha).
I think I might go see the Smashing Pumpkins next. They're doing 4 shows here, because it's their hometown.
Hmm, kool.
MQ: Mindless Self Indulgence, Meet The Band, Got Stuff Signed, Got Pics With Them.
This weekend I went to The Vandals, Unwritten Law, Authority Zero, and Hot Water Music. Hot Water Music brought little to the evening. Authority Zero played an excellent set, showcasing their abilities to mix punk, ska and reggae into something very much their own. Unwritten Law played fine as the "headliner" but it was for an audience about 1/4 the size as the band preceding them. The Vandals were the highlight of the evening. They played an amazing show, full of energy and their unique brand of wit, without missing a beat. Warren Fitzgerald's mastery of Don't Stop Me Now by Queen was an excellent close to the set (and evening for many) that would have made Freddie Mercury proud!
I'm still very jealous. For some reason, MGMT insists on not coming anywhere in Michigan.
MQ: Lydia, The Dear Hunter, Eye Alaska, You Me & Everyone We Know
Interesting. I haven't heard much from MGMT but I love Beck.
Did he do Sexx Laws?
MQ: Bachman Turner Overdrive and The Guess Who(Bachman/Cummings)
Nice.

You got to see Beck. I'm eternally jealous.
MQ: Sigur Rós at Red Rocks
