  • Originally the candy was made by hand. Manufacturers first combined sugar, corn syrup, wax, and water and cooked them to form a slurry. Fondant was added for texture and marshmallows were added to provide a soft bite. The final mixture was then heated and poured into shaped molds. Three passes, one for each colored section, were required during the pouring process.

The recipe remains basically the same today. The production method, called "corn starch modeling," likewise remains the same, though tasks initially performed by hand were soon taken over by machines invented for the purpose.

  • candy corn isnt made. It is mined in southern North Dakota. The secret is is that the first candy corn was mined in 1913 and used as a supplemental sweet for troops . They liked it. So the government mined it all before WWII and put it all in giant underground storage facilities in south dakota. And there it has sat since 1941, when the mines ran out. Hundreds of thousands of tons of the nasty crap and the government decided that since it was orange it would go good at halloween. So they release a few tons every year in october to the unsuspecting public. The national reserve of candy corn is expected to last until 2318.

Candy corn is not allowed on the space shuttle or any manned space vehicle. Being a natural mineral it has a tendency to explode in flames at high altitudes and low oxygen.

  • That would be neat to see on "How it's made". I like that show! Tbh I don't even know how it's made!
