There may not be enough information on your site for our crawlers to determine the content of your pages. Therefore, we could be having difficulty identifying relevant ads to show on your pages. Please also note that our crawlers are unable to derive meaning from:
* audio and video files (.wma, .mpeg, .mov)
* mp3 files (.mp3)
* images (.jpeg, .bmp)
* Macromedia Flash movies
* Java Applets
In such cases, we recommend that you include more text-based content, especially complete sentences, to assist our crawlers in gathering information about your site to display relevant ads.
Adsense uses JavaScript so you need to have some portion of the page be HTML to be able to embed the JavaScript into it.
If you flip around your question:
"Does Adsense code recognize flash sites?"
I think the answer is no, because Adsense needs to read keywords (in the text-based HTML) from your site in order to know what type of context-specific ads to place on your site. If everything is embeded in flash, which Adsense can't read, it doesn't know what your site is about and so you may only get public service ads or ads based only on words in your site's URL.
You do not need much content to get relevant adsense ads on your pages since adsense uses many other parameters to guess what your page is about and / or what ads your visitors can be interested in. This ranges from the url itself (words used in it), the visitor's IP, the referring link...
However, having some content increases the competition between keywords and generates higher Cost Per Clic.
If you have enough traffic, I suggest that you consider using other revenue generation techniques like traditional banners that will integrate perfectly in a flash design.
Comments
Your site needs to have text; otherwise, you'll get plagued with untargeted ads, irrelevant ads and non profit unpaid advertising or PSAs.
From the Google Adsense help center, one of the reasons they explained why you may get irrelevant ads is this: https://www.google.com/adsense/support/bin/answer....
