As a contractor...?
If i'm working contract for a company but get a fixed salary from that company and i work on weekends and public holidays, must i get overtime or not for the weekends and the holidays.....

You signed a contract. In the contract, does it stipulate that you will be paid for the days in question? I bet it does not.

It all depends on your agreement. If they are paying you a global salary, then you are an employee as far as the laws go. If they are paying you for a certain number of hours, then that is all they have to pay for, and anything extra is based on your negotiation for overtime pay.
