Pioneer CD car system?

I keep getting an error message that reads, "NOCDDJ" from my Pioneer 6 disc CD system. I've tried everything, checked everything, reset unit...could it be the magazine is bad?

Update:

Forgot to say it's a Pioneer CDX FM 687 system installed in my '99 Lincoln Towncar.

    That error code only comes up when there's no CD changer connected or the CD changer is not responding.

    Unfortunately, it could be more then just the magazine - the whole unit could be shot.
