How do I connect my new IPOD Nano to my factory car stereo?

I have a 2003 Cadillac Deville DTS. How do I connect my new IPOD Nano to the factory car stereo? I know that I can purchase gadgets that will play it through radio frequency. I want the highest sound quality though. Is there a way to do this without spending a fortune on a whole new IPOD-friendly stereo? Suggestions please. Thanks.

  • Without a specific IPOD input jack you are pretty much out of luck. The aftermarket adapters significantly degrade the already poor quality of the signal generated by the IPOD unit. If you plan to keep your Cadillac for awhile and wnat to listen to your IPOD through the car speakers, I'd suggest that you have a new radio installed. They are really not that expensive.

  • I suggest you to get a new car stereo, since it's usually the case that factory stereo is not as good as the after market ones. Many after market ones have Ipod connection, and very cheap. For instance, I'm now using Eonon, it's E1091 2 din car dvd player, with both ipod and bluetooth support, and you can watch TV or movies through it, quite good.

  • If there is no AUX input and it doesn't have a cassette player the only way you will be able to do it is through the radio. I purchased a device not too long ago that was $50, it plugs into the "cigarette lighter" for the car so it doesn't need batteries, and you can choose any station. Most of the time, it is pretty clear.

  • If the stock stereo has no auxilary/RCA input, you will need to install a peripheral. If the stock stereo does not feature periph hook ups, you will either have to get a new head unit, or get a RF transmitter.

  • Here is two ways you can use your ipod just follow these links a little pricey but check ebay for cheaper prices i just used this to show its compatible with your car.
