Is this a serious problem, please help?
Hi,
Im a 16 year old guy. I dont refer to my brothers by name and I hardly mention their names in front of them. The reason is because when I was much younger my eldest brother used to hit me when I refused to call him a tamil word meaning big brother. I used to get humiliated as a result. Im shy and Im scared of what will happen if I were to start calling him that now. Also there was once a big fight in my household when my eldest brother hit my other bother over the same issue. That fight caused me a great deal of frustration over the years. However our relationships have become healthy over the years. My brother now treats me well and even won me a trip to USA this year. Will he be hurt by me not calling him anything.
Is this issue serious?

And I cant understand why your brother would get upset with you for calling him by his name. A tamil word? Whats a Tamil word? Or is that his given name?
You stated that your relationship has grown stronger over the past few years and if he is now calling you by your name it should be fine for you to call him by his.
At this point Im guessing that he has matured and realized that its dumb to fight over such stupid reasons.
You guys need to learn to Cherish each other everyday! Me and my older brother were not too close we just wern't a lot a like, but August 1 of 2010 he passed away and I miss his SO much now and kick myself every day for not taking the time to get to know him better and try to share in some of his interest.
Remember that we are only promised life on Earth one minute at a time, and the next minute we can be called to Heaven! Cherish each other!
When you guys get to USA enjoy yourselves. What area are you going to?
