Was John. 18: 4-6 a supernatural event?
Though it was a full moon, they brought lanterns and torches. They wanted to identify the Person, and while lanterns were shining and their torches throwing out a lurid glare, Jesus says, "Whom do you seek?" And as he stepped out and said, Whom do you seek?" they fell, just as if they were shot. It showed how easily He could have blotted the whole band out of existence.
Isn't our God amazing?

John 18: 4-6
Jesus therefore, knowing all things that should come upon him, went forth, and said unto them, Whom seek ye?
They answered him, Jesus of Nazareth. Jesus saith unto them, I am He. And Judas also, which betrayed him, stood with them.
As soon then as he had said unto them, I AM HE, they went backward, and fell to the ground.
This verse is SO powerful. I just love it! Amazing every time I read it. Shows the Majestic, Awesome, and Power of Jesus, the Son of Almighty God! HE said I am HE, ..their mere human bodies could not take that beautiful light, the Awesome Power and Authority of the King of kings and Lord of lords. This is my personal opinion of this question, and thank you so much for asking it. What a blessing I have received. Amen, and Praises to our Creator, thank you Jesus for saving my soul.
Edit:
John 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
Philippians 2:6-8
He "Who being in the form of God (and) did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bond-servant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.”
That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Philippians 2:10-11
Blessed Be The Name of The LORD

Let's consider these verses together.
John 18:4-6: "4 Jesus, therefore, knowing all the things coming upon him, went forth and said to them: “Whom are YOU looking for?” [v5] They answered him: “Jesus the Naz·a·rene′.” He said to them: “I am [he].” Now Judas, his betrayer, was also standing with them. [v6] However, when he said to them: “I am [he],” they drew back and fell to the ground."
A MOB is coming after Jesus. Armed with swords and clubs and with soldiers among them, the men form a large crowd. As if guided by a single malevolent will, they move through the darkened streets of Jerusalem and across the Kidron Valley to the Mount of Olives. The moon is full, yet they carry torches and lamps. Do they light their way because clouds block the moonlight? Or do they expect their quarry to be hiding in the shadows? One thing is certain: Anyone who expects Jesus to cower knows little of the man. I found the preceeding sentence very interesting, yet true.
Jesus is aware of the danger that approaches. Nonetheless, he stands and waits. The mob nears, led by Judas, once a trusted friend. Judas brazenly betrays Jesus, singling out his former master with a hypocritical greeting and a kiss. Still, Jesus keeps his composure. Then he steps out before the mob. “Whom are you looking for?” he asks. “Jesus the Nazarene,” they reply.
Most people would quail in terror before such an armed mob. Perhaps that is what this crowd expects of the man before them. But Jesus does not cower, does not flee, does not blurt out some lie. Instead, he simply says: “I am he.” His manner is so calm, so brave, that the men are astounded. They stagger backward and fall down! (John 18:1-6; Matthew 26:45-50; Mark 14:41-46)
How could Jesus face such extreme danger with complete composure and self-restraint? The answer, in a word, is courage. Few qualities are so admired or so needed in a leader, and no man has ever equaled, much less excelled, Jesus in this regard. In the preceding chapter, we learned how humble and meek Jesus was. He was rightly called “the Lamb.” (John 1:29)
"I told you I am he,” Jesus calmly continues. “If, therefore, it is I you are looking for, let these go.” Shortly before in the upper room, Jesus had told his Father in prayer that he had kept his faithful apostles and not one of them had been lost “except the son of destruction.” So, in order that his word might be fulfilled, he asks that his followers be let go.
As the soldiers regain their composure, stand up, and start to bind Jesus, the apostles recognize what is about to happen. “Lord, shall we strike with the sword?” they ask. Before Jesus replies, Peter, wielding one of the two swords the apostles have brought, attacks Malchus, a slave of the high priest. Peter’s blow misses the slave’s head but cuts off his right ear.
“Let it go as far as this,” Jesus says as he intervenes. Touching the ear, he heals the wound. Then he teaches an important lesson, commanding Peter: “Return your sword to its place, for all those who take the sword will perish by the sword. Or do you think that I cannot appeal to my Father to supply me at this moment more than twelve legions of angels?” The "Father," hmmmm. Interesting. Let's see this from the scriptures.
Notice John 18:11: "11Â Jesus, however, said to Peter: “Put the sword into [its] sheath. The cup that the Father has given me, should I not by all means drink it?”
Jesus says "my father." That right there should tell you that there is someone higher than he (Jesus) is. By Jesus saying "my father," that would mean that he is the Son of his Father, who is in Heaven. So, this would dispute any claims of elevating Jesus to Almighty God status because that would be presumptuous on our part. Not even Jesus elevated nor put himself to be greater than his Heavenly Father Jehovah God.
The understanding is the importance of courage when faced with adversity. Giving up because of facing adversity is not an excuse. Jesus knows what it was like to undergo trials. Satan even tried to tempt him, but failed. If we are not careful, Satan will tempt us, succeed in doing it, "laugh" at us for falling into his trap and then keep you as far away from the light is possible.
The men looking for him likely suspected an ambush.
No. Jesus was a man and not a God.
Might make a good Manga though, especially if Jesus gets a Japanese sword.
What version is this?
