Do "essential" classes make me stupid?
So pretty much, I can learn whatever you teach me. Now I might've signed up for "essential classes" before I entered High School so I had to take "stupid" classes by accident.
Essential in my school means "below average" like Geometry Essentials, Algebra Essentials, so on. I have passed EVERY math class and had not once failed a single class in my life. I feel dumb for taking these classes, because I don't know if I'll do good in college. I graduated taking Algebra 2 Essentials and yet I STILL help my friends with their Pre-Calculus!
Do Essential classes mean I'm dumb?
Update:I got a B in my Geometry Final and everyone knows that Geometry is hard, but I took Geometry Essentials 2 years ago.
I know I'm not dumb, but sometimes I don't get school. Might be my ADD that gets to me, makes it hard to study and pay attention.

First let's look at some definitions of "stupid."
1. regarded as unintelligent: regarded as showing a lack of intelligence, perception, or common sense
2. silly: irritatingly silly or time-wasting
3. slow of mind
4. given to unintelligent decisions or acts : acting in an unintelligent or careless manner
5. lacking intelligence or reason : brutish
6. marked by or resulting from unreasoned thinking or acting

None of these sound as you have described yourself.
Three things to ask yourself. #1 - Are you learning something new in these classes? #2 - Are the studies from these classes ADDING to information you already knew? #3 - Is the class helping you to retain & recall information about the subjects?
If yes, to one, two or all three, then these classes are enhancing your education. Learning is not stupid. It is the exact opposite of stupid.
Don't blame ADD.
EVERYONE gets distracted from studies that are not presented in an interesting manner.
If you find that happening with you, then find a new way to study that subject.
I did this when I had flunked a lot of tests on the plays of William Shakespeare. I just could not read that old English & retain it to make any sense of the entire play. I always got D's.
Then I took the last play, "Hamlet." I read one paragraph over & over until I could translate it into modern English. THEN I read the entire play from my modern English transcription. That was the most interesting play! I passed the test with an "A" & was even questioned for possible cheating. Thankfully, I still had my transcription notes on me & was able to prove that I did learn this play, but in an unconventional manner that resulted in raising my grades.
Do what you have to do to make learning fun & interesting. For me, it was like finding forensic evidence at a crime scene & trying to figure out what the pieces of information (evidence) were trying to tell me about the whole subject (crime scene).
No, taking "essential" classes do not make you stupid. Especially when you're doing so well in your classes.
