No, because Windows XP supports only till DirectX9 where as 7 supports DirectX11. It plays a vital role. Besides Windows 7 is intelligent and optimizes the services more efficiently than XP.

Please don't.All the games are compatible with windows 7.It's true that windows 7 is more resource hungry that windows xp,but it doesn't have to much impact on gaming.
btw i would suggest you to upgrade to windows 8 because it's way faster than windows 7
