"Carriages at"...7pm?

Can I use the phrase "carraiges at 7pm" on my wedding invitation to make clear that it is an afternoon-only reception and no evening do? Or does this only apply to evening events?

  • Where are you having the reception?

To be honest, you can let them know that the party finishes at 7 pm, either "Carriages at 7 pm (but be prepared to have to explain this)" or "wedding from 12 to 7 pm".

If the reception is being held in a local restaurant / pub / hotel etc then you've told them that the wedding finishes at 7 but it's up to the staff to move the party on on your behalf.

    Good luck for the wedding.

  • It's a bit old fashioned but perfectly clear.

An alternative is to put the time range on the invites eg reception 3 -7 pm.

    Best wishes anyway.

  • I think "Carriages at 7 p.m." would be absolutely fine. It makes it clear in a polite way that that is the time you would expect everyone to have left by.

  • My dear girl, you can't usher your guests away at such an early time. It is most unreasonable. The best parties don't get going until much later in the evening.

People have been known to vacate mumsy's soirées as late as 3 in the morning.

  • If I received an invitation stating 'carriages at 7pm', I'd know exactly what you meant!

  • no, saying that does not make it clear...it's very vague.

  • I think that it's will be ok .

  • You can
