Whyu do you prefer "zed"?
Just curious on why Brits hate to say "zee" as the last letter of the alphabet. I know you say "zed", but can you tell me why you prefer "zed" over "zee"? I am not trying to be rude, I am just curious.
Update:When you were little and learning to read, did your mum point to the last letter of the alphabet and ask you what letter it was, and did you say it is a zed? I am again not trying to be rude. I am only curious.

We were brought up and taught the alphabet as ending in zed.
American's are pretty much the only ones who use the zee pronunciation. Also, zed is the original pronunciation...
Yeah most people outside of America who speak English say zed. It's not that people 'prefer' to call it zed, the simple fact it that is the name for that letter in their version of English.
It's the same as when British people say 'lift' instead of 'elevator', some words are just different and zed/zee is one of them.
It's just what we've been brought up on! "Zee" just sounds wrong to us. I think "zed" has a nice final abrupt ending to it which is suited to the end of the alphabet. In addition, the rest of all the letters ending in "ee" are at the *beginning* of the alphabet.
That's the way it is suppose to be said in the English language (Zed) as the English language was invented in England.
Zed is the proper way to pronounce it. Americans spell and pronounce things wrong and call it 'American English'

American is a bastardized version of English. For example why do American remove the a from words? paediatric is correct in English, pediatric is used in American.
