  • Putting aside the character traits of Humans for a moment, one particular 'opposite' is constant and persistent. Humans have 'immune systems.'

Each immune system carries with it an immune system history of survival, against all the terrible plagues, diseases and illness which have ravaged Humanity since the Dawn of Time. Each immune system is a witness to the survivals of all these events.

However, not every system is the same or identical. In fact, there are many different versions in Humans. If two Humans could pick a partner with a different immune system, this would clearly be a survival asset and give their offspring a better chance.

In fact, this is exactly what happens. Nature set it up so we know how to choose correctly and we all do this instinctively. It is linked to our sense of smell. If someone 'smells nice' to us, this means 'different immune system.' If they do not smell nice this means 'same immune system..!'

This has been proven now many times by actual experiment. The BBC set up a test situation with 20 young men and 20 young females and had them all smelling the T-shirts of the opposite sex and without fail, every one of them chose correctly.

So yes, 'opposites do attract,' but not in the way you asked.

  • Talkative people are attracted to quiet people, and vice versa. Two talkative people would frustrate each other, since they would both try to talk over the other person. Two quiet people would quickly lose interest in each other, since neither one is capable of constantly carrying the conversation.
