rainbow photo effect???

ok, i want to make like, a black and white photo, but i want one object to be rainbow colors, i think itd be really kool, but i cant figure out how to do it.

can anyone send me any tutorials or instructions??

i have adobe photoshop, corel paint shop pro X2, but if u know something else that can do it, ill get it. please help!!!

    Hi! Since you have Photoshop and Corel Paint, I am assuming that you are somewhat photo-editing savvy. Therefore I should simply be able to explain to you how to do this, however I have provided some tutorial links also.

    This is similar to a selective color technique where the photo is turned black and white, except for one item or object. Select or mask the object using whatever method is most comfortable to you. Then use the Gradient tool to color it as a rainbow (on a new layer) with whatever specifications you set—50% opacity, etc.

    Customize a gradient, with 5 or 6 points, put the rainbow colors into those points, and then reduce the transparency of the layer. I dont know the procedure in GIMP to do this, as i use photoshop, but I know GIMP is a good product and you should be able to do it. That is how it would be done in photoshop.
