How do I use my laptop as a primary desktop monitor?
My desktop monitor is currently broken. I' waiting for a replacement and want to use my laptop as the monitor while I wait.
I've been able to find threads and youtube videos which tell me how to use my laptop as a second monitor. However, these instructions all require that I do some clicking and menu navigation in the main desktop monitor. In other words, they're of no use to me when I cannot access the first monitor in the first place.
I have a VGA port on the back of my l laptop. So installing the cables isn't going to be a problem. The problem is getting the laptop to display whatever it is I do on the desktop, and ignore whatever the laptop is processing.
I highly doubt that it is just plug-and-play, since the laptop will still want to display the laptop's processing and computing. I need to tell it to ignore its own processing and display whatever comes through the VGA cable fro the desktop tower.
How do I doo that?

The VGA port of your laptop is for video out, not video in so no way that way.
Whatever solution you see out there will need to configure the two computers in a network then run a graphic desktop sharing program like VNC. Without control of your PC, nothing can be done.
Go out an buy a monitor now. Secondhand 15-inch LCDs go for around $30.
