Nvidia, well for example i bought the new game Stalker Chernobyl after using the new dx10 r600 ati i noticed it lagged and skipped a bit. I returned it and bought the Gtx8800 g-force. Never had any problems.
The technology of the Nvidia is more in front but costly. If you want to wait till xmas you should be able to pic up the GTX for alot cheaper, at least 200 less

Nvidia... 256 7600
I don't recommend any of those, because if you want to play games in let's say a year or so, you need a Direct X 10 card, which are the following:
ATI RADEON 2x00
NVIDIA GEFORCE 8x00
x is any number
if you use linux ATI does not have a linux driver yet for the 2x00 series.
oh yeah, you can google search the card with the word review: eg. 8600 GT review
then you can get its 3DMARK scores or whatever

Benchmarks results for Stalker Chernobyl
ATI R600 18POINTS
8800 GTX NVIDIA 38POINTS
Of those listed, I would recommend the ATI, because it is DX10. But right now, Nvidia has the best hardware. Get an 8600 or 8800 gts.
Nvidia.
I've used Nvidia Since i got a Ge force2 MX/MX 400
Card and i still have it and it works fine
That shows how reliable they are.
But anyway...
A NVIDIA Ge Force 8600GT EVGA Superclocked 256MB
and there 25% off at the moment so get it now rather than later
Heres a link as well it leads to the Buy Now Page in NVidia
