Depo Provera shot problems?

First of all don't tell me to get off it;My Body;My Rules.

I got the shot early December last year when i was 12 and have kept getting the shots but last month when I was supposed to get it,I couldn't as i was sick with a throatinflammationn and currently i am around 3 weeks late for my shot,Last night at around 10:40 I got a surprise; My period.I have had 2 shots and this want supposed to happen. I bled about maybe a teaspoon amount which actually looked quite large; I asked my mum as she was once in the medical profession said it could be heavy spotting and that it will go away within 1 1/2 days and I cant wait that long...I have school aschoolchool I have presentations a big NO-NO for me.Last night I put in a tampon(TMI) and took it out after talking to my mum to see if she was right,It was a teaspoon amount but mostly dark red. I asked why it happened and she said It could be the stress of my cat getting run over or left over blood that sees this as its chance. I put another one in and took it out at 6 something and there was just a little bit of brown...Barely any. My "period" is currently on a standstill and dtill awaiting for it to resume. How long will it be and how heavy? Plese no Pleased questions

Update:

My family has a history of unbearable extremely heavy flow periods and mine was quite heavy so my mum accepted my plea for the depo shot

  • You first got the shot when you were 12? For real? Technically then it's not "your rules" it's your mothers rules. Why has she put you on birth control so young?

Anyway, depo shots will affect us all differently, seeing as you're late for your shot I'm not surprised that you're spotting blood. And you also mention that you've been I'll, been taking any medication/antibiotics for that?

Some girls continue to menstruate normally while on depo, some girls periods stop altogether and some girls are in between. I'm on depo and I get no period, but if I have antibiotics, or am nearly due for my shot I will get spotting and other period symptoms. It's pretty normal.

Just use whatever feminine hygiene products you're comfortable with, liners are probably best for light spotting as tampons can be hard to remove if they don't have a lot of "moisture" to absorb.

  • Well the depo is a bad birth control messes up your body but is your life idk it last as long as it wants you want control it
