Okay, I felt you deserved a real answer to your question and not how to live your life like the doofus above me.
The S40 is a awesome car! It is peppy, fun to drive, handles very well and looks great! The T5 engine is a work horse engine that puts out alot of power, is great on fuel economy and will last a long time if properly cared for. You won't have to get the vehicle serviced but every 7500 miles so it is not a high maintenance vehicle.
Your mom is right. It is a very safe vehicle and although I know you aren't thinking about that right now, you will if God forbid you get hit by another driver or wrap it around a tree. ;-)
My experience with the Audi is that they appear very 'cheap' inside and their instrument panels fall apart very easily, especially the A4. Volvo's utilitarian interior is very sturdy and won't easily fall apart on you.
Lastly, the S40 is highly recommended by many critics and except for it lack of rear seat space, has gotten rave reviews from owners as well.
One more thing, you may want to have your mom consider the new C30. It is a killer looking coupe with all the bells and whistles, safety and fun as the S40 at a smaller pricetag.
Good luck with your car. If you have any further questions, feel free to email me at [email protected]
If your mom is paying for the car then just ask yourself is it better to walk, ride the bus ,, argue with mom OR be happy that she is buying you a car and she is paying for the gas and all you gotta do is drive .... the T5 will make a good trade in a couple of years and you can get what you like and you can pay --- or go to college ... earn your degree ... and ask mom to buy you a new car for college graduation ----- deal with mom and make her happy and you got a good car to drive ... sometimes it is better to go along with the program (((( MOM's PProgram))))
