How do you do this problem ?

Solve the equation. Don't forget to first simplify each side of the equation, if possible.

-4a + 3 + 5a = 12 - 21

-36

-12

36

12

  • combine all like terms. so you are left with 3+a= -9 then you subtract 3 from both sides and you are left with a= -12

  • -4a + 3 + 5a = 12 - 21

    first off add -4a to 5a which gives you a

    then subract 12 from 21 which gives you -9

    then bring the three on the other side of the equal sign which makes the 3 negative. so now the equation looks like:

    a = -9 - 3

    which equals -12

    so a = -12

  • combine like terms first.

    -4a+3-5a=12-21

    -9a+3= -9 add -3 to both sides

    -9a+3-3= -9-3

    -9a= -12 divide by -9 on both sides

    a=12/9 or 4/3

  • -4a +3 + 5a = 12 - 21

    a = -12

  • -4a+3+5a=12-21

    3+a=-9

    a=-9-3

    a=-12
