Why is Udonis Haslem a center?

I mean he's really short; 6'7 but annoucers say he's 6'6. So why is he a center?

Update:

It's very short. Basically all centers are 6'11 or taller.

  • He's a tough player, and not talented/skilled enough to play SF/SG.

He has played the PF position for most of his career, but the Heat play a lot of small ball. Chris Bosh playing C this season, and Shane Battier playing the PF etc....A lot of players on the Heat play multiple positions.

  • Because their bigs are atrocious and their team in general is really small. udonis isnt a center dude, he plays power forward more than center for that squad. chris bosh is their main center, at least during the playoffs he has been. I personally dont think its a big deal for udonis to run center because height doesnt matter much for a player of his skill set. hes not known for playing tenacious d, hes a rebounder and a rough, hustle player down low. center is the best spot for him to get a chance to grab reebs. I like birdman more though and i think he should continue to slowly increase his playing time as he continues to be in the right place at the right time offensively and defensively.

  • because who else are they gona put in the center position? anderson isnt a starter and thats the only other "big man" they have

  • He is versatile he grabs rebounds height doesn't matter really
