I've been having problems with my stomach after eating and such. What type of doctor should I see? Should I just go to a regular doctor and have him check me out first or go to a gastroenterologist?
I have had stomach problems for about four years. They started when I came out to college. It sucks. I would go see an internal specialist first, then see if he recommends seeing a gastroenterologist. I was referred to one, and had to have an endoscopy and colonoscopy to make sure there were no major issues, I also had to have a stomach MRI (you have to drink all these HORRIBLE liquids) and would not want you to go through all of that if you don't have to. All of these tests resulted in "IBS" and "stomach ulcers"
An internal specialist knows more than just a general practitioner so that's why I think you should go to one first, then maybe go to a gastroenterologist.
You can have pinched muscles in your back that end up very close to the nerves of the other organs in that state. Then small movements can cause the muscles to touch the nerves to cause that organ to act up or go into pain. When the nerves for the stomach are pressed on it will cause the stomach to release more gastric acid into itself to cause a burning sensation as it eats at your stomach lining, an ulcer in the making. To get rid of this problem you have to free up the muscles in your back and here's how to do that:
Back:
(do from a sitting position)
Place your left hand on your left leg next to your body. Place your right hand over your left shoulder, fingers over the back and the palm in the front and firmly pull down on them and hold. After 30 seconds slowly lower your body forward and to the outside of your left leg, keeping your left arm fairly straight as you do. When you reach your lap remain there for another 10 seconds, release the pressure but rest there for another 30 seconds. Then reverse your hand positions and do your right side.
For best results relax your body first by taking a deep breath and exhaling then remain this relaxed.

You should see your family physician who knows you from a long time.
You should see BOTH.
