Greek Orthodox 40 days death memorial service!?
I am a greek, and my granfather died a few weeks ago, i was just wondering, what actually happens at the 40 days get together?

It's a shorter form of the funeral service, praying for the wellbeing of the soul, with a tray of sugared wheat to be distributed among those present.
Not sure. I have a friend who just died and his family is planning the 40 day memorial service in June. I guess I'll find out about it then.....
Not much happens at the Saranda.
Bit of chanting from the baba, food is served (sometimes).
Sometimes it's at the burial site for a bit, other times it is just at the church.
I was brought up in the evil heretic greek orthodox church that isn't recognised by Greece, so I don't know if the tradition is the same in your church.
