did you vac. the system?that has a rotary compressor and not a yorx style right?a rotary compressor, without vac, only add 1 ounce.if vaced add 2-3 ounces.if its a york type, follow the directions, although oil inside that system should take less.(not the oil level in the compressor, itll have a fill hole)
Usully, you drain the old compressor, measure how much oil comes out of it and re-add the same amount to the new compressor. 2 to 3 ounces is usually good but don't add too much.

I'd agree with the previos poster, 2-3 ounces then turn the clutch so the oil can circulate before installing.
