Dog diareeah problem.?

I have about a 15 year old golden retriever dog who pretty recently has started to have diareeah all over the house. He is potty trained and does not go to the bathroom in the house. I'm worried something is wrong with him because he knows better and I let him out enough times a day to where this should not be happening (about every 2-3 hours. or if it's nice outside he'll stay out there for a while) What could be wrong with him?

Update:

He has episodes of diareeah. Like he'll have it for a few days then go back to normal poop. It's been going on for almost a month now.

  • You should keep a close eye on him! He could have cocsidia which, left untreated could kill him.. He could have gotten into something bad outside like a dead animal that made him sick also..Look at his gums-see if they are pink or whte.. If they are white then he is sick..

  • Our 10 year old dog developed the same thing and the vet had us put one tsp of metamucil in her food. She eventually didn't eat it but it worked. Then we switched to fortiflora in her food and she gobbles it down and hasn't had any problem. The vet said that often dogs get colitis as they age and we have been very satisfied with the results. Fortiflora is available from vets or online. Ask your vet what he/she thinks.

  • well, your dog is 15! it couldd prolly be cauz he ate somethinn bad so what you would do is feed him rice like mix it with his dog food just like 2 spoon full of cooked rice, this helps cuz it helps absorb whatever he ate wrong and he poops it outt nd he should maybee be back to normal ;) ope you give it a try?

  • How long has he had diarrhea? Have you fed him anything you normally don't feed him? If not it might be a good thing to take him to the vet to have him checked.
