Things to watch out for are clubhouse signatures and printed signatures. A clubhouse signature is essentially a forgery done by either the player's family or secretary on behalf of the player. A printed signature is exactly what it sounds like, usually an 8X10 photo is returned to you with a player's replicated fake signature. Also watch out for stamp signatures, but those are almost always noticeable. If you write a player, make sure to include a SASE which will increase your chances of a response by a lot... probably best to keep the letter short and do not send anything you'd hate to lose.
