how to coincide a triangle to itself?

i was given a triangleABC that has different side lengths... and it says fold the triangle so point A and B coincide and fold the paper again so point A and C coincides...??? DON"T REALLY GET IT!!!! HELP!!!

  • Cut out the triangle and try it. If sides are unequal, then folding point A onto point B results in two original corners, at simultaneous points AB and point C, and two additional corners, one at the midpoint between A and B and one where the fold line, which is perpendicular to side c (between A and B), intersects the side of the original triangle. You can then grab the corner at point C and fold it on top of the corner AB. Depending on the disparity in lengths of sides, the new shape will likely be 5-sided.
