Do restaurant employees get free food?

Do you get free food or just a discount? Tell me where you work and what your discount is....

  • 50% off---Burger King

  • I work at a privately owned restaurant. We used to get 50% off our meal when we worked a shift. Over a year ago, the owner took the discount away because servers were eating on the clock. Now we have to pay full price, it's BS! I've worked at 3 others, and we always got half off food.

  • Right now I get 10% off my bill at a privately owned place. Even if I stop in on a day off I still get my discount. Some places I've worked in the past gave me 50% but only while working, not on days off. When I did banquet serving gigs at the Culinary Institute, the food was always free.

  • I've worked at 2 major chain restaurants in Canada and neither gave us free food. I got a 50% discount (while working only) at both places. The restaurant I work at now has certain menu items that staff must pay full price for (steak, seafood, deserts,)

  • 1. Most restaurants give their employees a discount 2. A thief will steal no matter what their employer gives them Hey I've got an idea Lois. Why don't convenience stores hand out free food so they won't get robbed? Or how about this........ALL stores hand out free stuff. This would end shop lifting!!

  • I work at a privately owned steakhouse, we are allowed for free

    Fried Chicken

    Beef Sandwich

    Burger

any food leftover from a buffet

    (healthy, right?)

    and a discount of 50%

Last place was soup and salad only- full price for everything. He was a dick.

  • I got 50 percent off during staff meals but got to eat all the extras or mistakes

  • Sometimes,

    They almost always get discounts.
