Do I qualify for Irish citizenship by descent?

We just found out this was possible...

My Grandmother (71) has all the proof she needs to become a citizen by foreign births register in Ireland. Will my mother (48) qualify for Irish citizenship when my grandmother becomes a citizen? And if my mother becomes a citizen, since I am a minor (16) will I get automatic citizenship from her?

Please no mean answers, be honest but not harsh please! :)

Thank You for your time and help!

  • Well your grandma would have to go there to claim her citizenship and live there. Then, your mom would have to do the same. Then, you could get it.

  • Yes I think you actually can apply for Irish Citizenship even if your grandparents are long deceased as Long as you have proof they were born on the Island its ok.

  • Yes, you do. You can check it out on the internet. A friend of mine did it and now has two passports.
