Too dangerous to mod a 92 Prelude SI?

I have a stock 92 Prelude SI, yes its the 2.3 with no vtec. It is completely stock and has 148k miles on it. I'm wondering if adding a cold air intake, headers, and an full exhaust would be too much for the car to handle. Any additional advice on how to make it faster would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Update:

And by exhaust I mean like a downpipe.

  • It should handle it fine. I bought my 93 Prelude Si with 130k miles. Stock when I got it and since then I've added CAI, headers, catback exhaust, short throw, front & rear strut bars and more. Car now has 213k miles and runs mostly fine. Just beware of the oil pan gasket, ignition switch and abs sensors crapping out at some point. Those are the only things that failed on me in 4 years. Keep up with the preventive maintenance(oil changes, spark plugs+wires) and the major tune ups(timing belt, water pump, etc). The h23a1 engine and manual tranny are bulletproof.

  • First things first, to answer your question, if anything, those modifications would increase the reliability and life of the engine, reducing the amount of work the engine has to do to take in air and evacuate exhaust. The easier it is, the more power is made, the more fuel efficient, and the longer the engine can last. As for the person who said it's not worth it, you can see why it actually is worth it. I'm not a fan of FWD cars, but those parts make improvements anyways.

  • Fine but completely without purpose unless you have exhaust leaks.

  • no its not going to make the car blow up or anything, its fine.

  • put new engine in it.

    throw a B16 in it
