If a condom breaks, is pregnancy as likely as if you'd used no contraception?

I mean, is the risk of pregnancy any less, will the condom, broken or not, have stalled any of the little guys from getting through?

I'm weening my twins off breastfeeding at the moment you see so I'm not on the pill as usual, which I know a lot more about than condoms. I'm super fertile, do you think that I will be pregnant? I'll go to the doctor in the next few days for a test, but I just thought I may as well ask on here as well.

  • Well a broken condom definitely means there's a chance for sure. I like you am extremely fertile. Best of luck!

  • if the condom broke it would be the same as if you used no contraception at all...you can only get pregnant when you ovulate (which is about 14 days before your period), so if it was around the time of ovulation then its possible to get pregnant...many women dont ovulate while breastfeeding, but plenty do, so if you got your period back then it's possible! you wont get an accurate pregnancy test until the time of your expected period (or at least 2 weeks after the sex) so wait until then and test.

  • Condoms do work very well. But there are some which are defeated. Works out to be 1 in evey 6 to 7.

You have to read the instructions.

An broken one is useless. You might also not use one.

Only takes one sperm out off millions to make it.

  • Nobody knows if you're pregnant or will be pregnant. But if the condom broke, yes, it pretty much completely loses it's effectiveness. That's why it's important to know how to put it on and use it.

You'll just have to wait and see.

  • Most condom's have spermicides that kill the sperm on contact but you never know if one of those little guys got through untouched.
