Our Simon had problems when we got him - you did not want to be in the same room with him - actually when it was bad, you didn't want to be the same house with him :-)
He was eating Purina canned food and we switched him to Science Diet and that solved the problem.

Any animal that has an intestinal tract is going to pass gas. It's normal.
