My nose bleeds 2-4 times a day?

It has been bleeding for 4 days and I need a solution. My nose bleeds start at random time and lasts up to at least 20min. I am 13 and I don't know what is wrong...

  • I used to get nosebleeds a lot last year, I was 12 at the time. It happened at least twice a day, for 15 minutes. My doctor told me it was stress, my blood pressure was too high. You might be stressed, or overworking yourself.

But I also have a heap of allergies, he said it had something to do with the weather, that it made your nose dry and I guess itchy? You get my drift. It happened mostly at night and it woke me up from sleep on many occasions.

My mother took me to the doctor who prescribed me some medicine. I think you just get yourself checked out and just take it easy yeah?

Hope this helped, I'm sure its nothing, so don't worry about it too much and have you told your parents about it? They should know what to do.

P.S. if you get another nosebleed DON'T tilt your head back, it's gonna go down to your throat and make you nauseous and possibly end up choking and throwing up. (Happened to me, really gross) just pinch the bridge of your nose and that should stop the blood flow and continue doing that for another 15 minutes. And then maybe put some ice on it. :)

    Hope everything works out okay!

  • There are a few possible causes that I'll list.

    1) You live in a dry environment that is getting hotter in the summer. Your body needs moisture, so drink more water and take a Q-tip with vasiline on it and every morning when you wake up gently coat the inside of your nostrils and every night before bed as well. Keep this up for a few days or when you feel dry.

    2) Your body is dehydrated. Drinking lots of water and Vitamin C (like in juices) will help.

    3) You have a medical condition. If your nose bleeds come out of both nostrils, your head aches, or blood clots appear in the tissues, see a doctor. Sometimes this is caused by High Blood Pressure as well.

Remember when stopping a bleed don't blow your nose or tilt your head back. This is not very efficient. Instead, cover your bleeding nose with a tissue and pinch your nose just above the nostrils, and just below the bone bump (you should feel a bump in you nose I call it a "bone bump" lol). Hope this helps!

  • Sweetie, I had the same problem. I fixed it a couple of months ago with having one of those humidifiers in my room so that my nose wouldn't dry out. Also, every night, before you go to sleep, put some vasiline in your nose. Then, when you wake up, put some more vasiline in your nose. It may sound wierd, but it really does help. If it persists, than maybe you should see a doctor. Hope this answer is helpful.

  • Consult a doctor . Your nose is bleeding because the capillaries in the nose break out. Probably because of the blood pressure is too high or sth.

  • go to the doctor asap. you might have something wrong with a blood vessle that is a quick fix but there is really no way to tell unless you have a full exam done on you. let your parents know, go to the doctor ASAP and by ASAP i mean within 24 hours.

  • My sister has had the same problem if your living in a warm humid environment can often be a trigger, not sure why
