Name dilemma.(girls name)?

I know it's not my problem. But I mean it is my niece after all. Anyways, My sister is having a baby girl, and she is set on naming her Tillahney Nicola. (Tillahney is pronounced till-awn-ee). Honestly, I think it is just horrid, but she is set on it. And says nothing I say will change her mind. So Ive accepted it. I am just curious if ANY one out there would actually like this name? Do you actually like it?

Update:

Her nickname(according to my sister) would be Lahnie (law-nee). But I'm tempted to just call her Nicola/Nici instead. but will see.

  • I agree, that is an God awful name. Maybe she can go by "Tilly"?

EDIT: Oh dear. I'm not sure what's worse, to be quite honest! At least when the girl is old enough she can go by whatever nickname she likes, or change it altogether :) the best of luck to your niece xx

  • I agree with all the answers, terrible name and Lahnie as a nickname is equally as bad. You should print all of these opinions out and show her just how many people are opposed to it. =) Not one person liked it... tell her to get a clue!

  • Why not just try to convince her to use the name Lahnie Nicola- that isn't ANYWHERE near as bad as Tillahney. Where did she even find that name?!?!?!

  • I don't like Tillahney. But Nicola as a middle name would be good :-)

Why not show her this question and the answers it gets, and she might see sense?

She could pick a simalar but better name than Tillahney (I'm having trouble pronouncing it, let alone spelling it!).

  • No, I don't like it too. Because when they want to call her they will say Till, Tilly & sounds bad to me.

I hope she could change her mind. Nicola is good & Nici or Niki is not a unique name though, but still is ok.

Lahnie is good I like it.

  • ICK! But i do like the nickname Lahnie

    Theres still hope!

My parents were set on Katyra Shea but changed their mind last minute(: Thank god!

  • Your'e right- its horrid, but I guess if she went by 'Tilly' it wouldnt be AS horrid. Add the 'Nicola' and that has got to be one of the worst names I have ever heard. You have to do something!

  • Sorry, but that is an awful name. I feel bad for your niece! I would try to start calling her Tila for short - at least that isn't so bad.

  • It kinda sounds Hawaiian. I guess it's kinda cute but I would call her Tilly or Hanney:)

  • no not really and lahnie sounds too much like lawn
