Do I have normal "Pulse Pressure"?

I don't mean Pusle RATE guys.. what i mean is Pulse Pressure (Systolic # minus Diastolic #)

Update:

Male

26 years old

6'0"

178 lbs

My blood pressure used to range from (Systolic 110-150) and (Diastolic 60-90)... the Doc. told me it's possible i could have high blood pressure... so I decided to have a healthier life style (more like eating low sodium intake foods) I dont drink or smoke.

After 2 to 3 weeks of eating healthy.. my blood pressure at rest now ranges between (Systolic 105-125) and (Diastolic 60-75)...

The thing that is scaring me is that my "Pulse Pressure" is always between 40 to 70.. Is that normal?

  • Neither your initial or your follow up readings are outwith the range for acceptable normal. Well done on the lifestyle changes anyway though, keep them up!

No it is not normal_For most people, a heart rate of 60 to 100 beats a minute while at rest is considered normal.

If your heart beats less than 60 times a minute, your doctor may diagnose bradycardia.

Some people don't have symptoms of bradycardia, or their symptoms are so mild that they think it's just normal.

You can find out how fast your heart is beating by taking your pulse. If your heartbeat is slow or uneven, talk to your doctor.

A slow heart rate is sometimes normal and can be a sign of being very fit.

I am not a doctor and I hope it is okay to post a reply to your question here.

Only physicians have the skills, training, and techniques to determine whether or not you have bradycardia. Healthy young adults and athletes often have heart rates of less than 60 beats a minute.Ask your doctor.

    Take care as always!

  • I've never ever heard of "pulse pressure".....only blood pressure. If you mean "pulse rate" then I see what you mean. If your pause rate is 40 then that's a tad too low for most of us......not unheard of but a tab low. Ideally your pulse rate would be between about 50 and 70. It's not uncommon however to have a much faster heart rate....like 90 or 100 even but if you're in very good condition, your pulse rate can be much lower.

  • Wide pulse pressure becomes a problem for older people due to arteriosclerosis/ Isolated hypertension.

  • you,re doing the right thing!
