does no contract mean prepaid?

i was going to order a NO CONTRACT phone from Amazon, but i was wondering if that meant PREPAID ? I need to know ASAP !!!

  • prepaid or you are paying full retail for the phone, allowing you to use the phone on any compatible carrier (if it is unlocked)......... this way you can get the say $800 smartphone and use it on any carrier for just calls and text if you like......... but you'd need to make sure you can do that on the carrier of choice first, before spending the money.........

    i pay full price up front for my phones, so i'm not locked into a contract, and can leave whichever carrier i sign up with at any time.........

  • Not necessarily. No contract means that you are not entered into a contract with your service provider. No contract can still be the monthly service.
