As I recall the war had 70% approval rating at that point, so maybe we should all feel a little embarrassed about it. It is easy to use hindsight in a situation, and the administration didn't always use the best judgment, but Iraq is more stable now than it was in 2003-2007, and that is partially to the credit of President Bush. I don't blame Obama for not doing much in the last two years about the job market, so I don't see why Bush should be blamed for every aspect of the Iraq war.
The only ones that are embarrassed are the one who don't know, or don't care, about the context of that event. It was an exuberant celebration of the hard work the military did to achieve that PHASE of the Iraq campaign. It was NOT a statement that the Iraq campaign was over, except by those who were looking for something to beat over the heads of the Bush Administration.
This was GWB's embarrassment alone. I thought it premature to make such a declaration, so soon after the invasion. Also, I was opposed to invading a second country when we were already committed to battle in Afghanistan, especially a country that was the enemy of our enemy.
I am a conservative who does not aspire to hero worship, much like foolish liberals do.
They are shameless. They can be caught red-handed doing coke and fornicating with a male prostitute and still make up some BS excuse about what "really" happened and be on their merry way.

Of course they do. That's why they never mention it, and avoid any discussion about it whenever the topic comes up.
