My new graphics card?

Hi i just bought a new graphics card and have installed it but ever since i have my pc stalls when i get to the choose your desktop part it just completely crashes , its so bad i cant use my computer , ive been trying to fix it so if anyone has any ideas please let me know thanks.

    There are a few possibilities.

    1. The new card is faulty.

    2.The card slot is dirty and .needs to be cleaned

    3. Your Power supply is too weak for the card.

    4.Your motherboard is gone belly up.

    See if you can get your hands on another graphics card (borrow one) and see if you have the same problem.

    First thing I'd check is your power supply- Graphics cards need lots of power, and chances are your old PSU is not up to the job, so the processsor's not getting enough power, so it crashes (or sometimes just doesn't start up).

    read online at Tom's Hardware Guide about the various facets of what needs to be done to assure that a new graphics card will work in your existing box.

    example: if your power supply isn't large enough, something will crash.

    go back to integrated and see if it works

    then go to BIOS after confirming it works, and set primary graphics to dedicated
