Your User ID is very appropriate to describe your mentality. The $500 billion reduction was for reimbursements to physicians and others who were overpaid through the Medicare Advantage plan which is not for seniors only. It is for permanently disabled children and adults. These payments were made over 20 to 30 years to induce doctors to participate in Medicare. They are being cut back temporarily until Medicare has recovered money from fraud then the reimbursements will increase. I am a Medi. Advantage plan user and there are no changes to it. If there is a change, that is ok with me because it will help to save the whole system.
What the Dept of HHS is doing in the right direction beside fraud recovery is increasing seniors premiums if they have an annual income over $85,000. Why is it fair that a millionaire Senator in Congress pay the same $110 a month as myself.
Why do Reps ignore facts and try to use this as ammunition? When the Social Security act was set up, it was geared to give raises in line with inflation. That is why it is called COLA - of Cost of Living Adjustment. Inflation has remained essentially flat, so they don't get a raise. The final inflation figure for 2009 was -0.34%. And no, Social Security does not have a "longevity" raise.
And all these complaints are coming from people who want to do away with or privatize Social Security. Can't you make up your minds?
Wait a minute, are not the democrats charged with being socialistic? If that is the case are you sure they are the ones wanting to cut these programs. I mean that doesn't fit with their socialistic agenda does it?
If you read COLA you will know Dems are not at fault but will take the blame because they are in power. The Teabaggies should be happy because it's stops more Gov spending
