  How to do this algebraic problem?

  3/4x−1/2=1/2x+1

  Solve for x:

  3/4x−1/2=1/2x+1 <== transpose variable to the left, constants to the right.

  3/4 x - 1/2 x = 1 + 1/2

  3/4 x - 2/4 x = 2/2 + 1/2 <== 1/2 x = 1/2(2/2)x = 2/4 x, and 1(2/2) = 2/2

  1/4 x = 3/2

  x = (3/2)/ (1/4)

  x = 3(4) / 2(1)

  x = 12/ 2

  x = 6 <== Answer.

  Presentation is unclear so have to take a GUESS at :-

  (3/4) x - 1/2 = (1/2) x + 1

  3x - 2 = 2x + 4

  3-2x=2+4x

  Then,arrangement equality

  You need parenthesis - it helps make things clearer.

  Do you mean 3/(4x)−1/2=1/(2x)+1, or (3/4)x−1/2=(1/2)x+1, or 3/(4x−1/2)=1/(2x+1)?

  then it's

  3/4x - 1/2 = 2/4x + 1

  1/4x = 1 1/2

  or

  1/4x = 3/2

  (4/1)1/4x = (4/1)3/2
