Getting pictures from my camera onto my computer using a usb?
So the other day i went to best buy and bought a Dynex usb cord, so i could put my camera's memory card in and then get my photos onto my computer. My memory card was too small to fit in my computer by the way. So i have the USB in my computer and the memory card is in there, there is a blue light, and i'm guessing that means it's connected. But i can't get the photos to my laptop. Please help.

Hi Jessica:
As our green-eyed friend from Kansas mentioned, you appear to have a Micro-SD card (which are sometimes sold with the full-size SD card adapter, so it would fit directly into your PC). But that doesn't seem to be your problem, since your Dynex USB card reader lights up properly with the card inserted.
If you listed your camera's brand and model #, we could look up whether it's just a "still camera" or a camcorder, and what file-types and video compression method (or "codec") your camera uses. Not all editing software is compatible with all consumer HD file types. Windows Movie Maker only "likes" .WMV and .AVI video files. Things like AVCHD, H.264, and .MP4 video files can require software called "transcoders" to allow your computer to edit them properly. Some brands of cameras & camcorders (like Sony, JVC, and Canon) come with special software or "media browsers" to help with this process of transferring photos and videos.
There are also a series of folders and sub-folders that your camera sorts photos and videos into (and they are in different places). You might just be looking in the wrong place. Photos are in a "DCIM" main folder, but located deeper in another one with a name similar to "100ABCDE" (3-numbers + 5-letters). See the Wikipedia article showing the folder naming & order: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Design_rule_for_Camer...
Use the "Additional Details" link on the Action Bar (mouse-over the "Edit" menu pencil icon) to give us an update listing what camera you have (the more details the better!).
I'll look for more info from you, if the above doesn't help solve your problem.
hope this helps,

Is your memory card a 'micro sd card" ? If it is, you just need a sd micro card adapter. Your micro sd card just slides into the sd card adapter. Then that sd card should fit into your computer's memory card slot.
If you connect the usb cable to your camera and then turn it on. Then plug the usb cable into your computer. You then should see a box open on your computer screen. It will ask you just what you want to do. If your camera came with a disc, you should load it into your computer. That software will help you load and work with your photos. If not, you can use the Windows software which came loaded onto your computer.
Once you get your photos onto your computer, you might want to store them on a photo storing website like Shutterfly.
