Do politicians deserve to receive pensions from the taxpayers?
I mean, these jobs were never intended to be permanent and the people serving were not to become fixtures.
It was believed that they would serve their term and return to their REAL life outside of Washington, why are we paying them a pension?
Shouldn't this be stopped? At the very least for the convicted congressmen who are still receiving pensions from the taxpayers?
excerpt...
More than 20 members of Congress who have been convicted of crimes, both Democrats and Republicans, are continuing to receive their federal pensions, at a cost of $1 million a year to American taxpayers. Among the convicted ex-Congressmen are Randy "Duke" Cunningham, who is serving an
eight year prison sentence, Minnesota Senator David Durenberger, who pleaded guilty to using his Senate expense account for personal profit, and Dan Rostenkowski, the former Congressman from Illinois, who served 15 months in prison after being charged with a slew of corruption charges. Rostenkowski, the former Chairman of the Ways and Means Committee, is receiving $126,000 per year.

i agree. as much money as you can make as a politician, especially in congress with lobbyists and all, do you really NEED a pension if you live within your means and get a real job?
Absolutely NOT!!!!!!
They should have to build their retirements just like we have to do.
My thoughts.............NO NO NO, nor lifetime HEALTH INSURANCE either.
