how to change o2 sensor on chevy silverado 1500 v8 5.7?

  • Bank 1 on a RWD chev V8 is the left side of the engine. Sensor 2 is after the cat converter. Be sure to follow the pipes all the way back from the engine. Many models the pipes crossed over each other after they leave the engine so the bank 1 could be the right pipe after it gets under the body.

They can be a bugger to get out. Having the special socket is usually required but sometimes does not help because something is in the way. Often times you need some serious heat to get them out which would be like a oxy acetylene torch. Even at that the threads can be damaged so you then need a thread repair or in some cases they have to weld a plug over the hole and weld on a new 'bung' which is the threaded part.

    bank 1 sensor 2

  • Chevy O2 Sensor

  • The of that sensor is going to be right after the catalytic converter or the bigger round tube right after the engine. unplug the wire connected to the senor and get a socket to unscrew it. It almost looks like a spark plug. Next screw in the new O2 sensor and then plug it in. You should be all good to go. I'm not positive but the check engine light might stay on becuase the code stays on until you go in with a computer.

  • sensor 2 is after the cat converter. Get an O2 socket and have at it.

  • b1s1 is on the driver side very close to the exhaust manifold. b1s2 should be right before the cat and b1s3 should be right after on that same side
