  • get a trainer or somebody to help you the first couple times, because some horses don't like clippers near their ears and those things are sharp! but pretty much the idea is to hold the 2 edges together and trim the hair on the egdes with a smooth upwards motion. then get the hair on the visible part of the inside to the ear(the stuff that sticks out) going the direction the hair is growing(up). just get a mentor the first few times so you don't have any clipping disasters.

  • She by no ability reported something approximately clipping the interior of their ears.... My mare is truly appropriate for her entire physique and face. Then once you attempt to do her ears, she throws a greater wholesome. Twitch them... it works like magic, and as somebody else reported, isn't cruel in any respect. I clip the outdoors of her ears, and that i trim the interior factors so as that they stay interior her ears and are not protruding. yet another element.... notwithstanding you do, do no longer pull the clippers away in the event that they start to shake their head. grab onto the ear and keep the clipper touching it, notwithstanding while you're actually not easily clipping it. in the event that they shake their head or notwithstanding, and it makes the clippers circulate away, that teaches them to maintain doing it. Make or no longer it is common that the clippers won't circulate away no remember what they do, and that they're going to finally provide up attempting.

  • you pinch one side of the ear to the other, so it looks like a hotdog bun, then clip like you would a bridle path. dont get any loose hair in their ear or in their eye. dont clip inside the ear either as it helps keep bugs and dirt, dust out.

  • Agreeing with the small finishing clippers that are cordless and quiet...I will add a few tips on clipping itself.

place a large wad of cotton into the ear to not only protect the ear from hair falling into it, but to cut down the noise level.

Also, when working on the outside, you can close the ear, by pinching the sides gently together to close the ear.

Also, I will warn you, a lot of horses resist this procedure until they get used to it and some never do....you may need some help from a second person, cross ties, and possibly a

1 individual-- twitch that clips to halter...

Hope it goes smoothly for you...

    :)

  • I use a really small pocket clipper that I got. It runs on batteries so I don't have to worry about a cord either. They're perfect for small areas like ears and trimming whiskers.
